I was scammed by AMD Tech Services - Computer Hackers

Got a pop up on my PC screen turned blue and got the message that my computer was being hacked and not to touch my computer until I called AMD at 1 844 285 8613 so they could repair and remove hackers and other viruses, They claimed to be Microsoft so I let them on my PC remotely, They instructed me to write them a check and Fed Ex would pick it up, They refused payment by credit card and now I realize it's because I could have easily had those charges removed. A few months later the same thing happened and I called them because I was still not aware that they were trying to scam me again, This time they said I needed extra Firewall protection and tried to charge me $400. I told them I could not afford it and Jacob told me he would provide Firewall protection for free. Found out later they were trying to scam more money, Contacting the FTC to report them. I have Malwarebytes and they helped me to clean out any potential threats they might have left on my PC.

  • Monetary Loss: $0
My computer was frozen and a message came on that I had a virus the person asked me to give him access to my computer and he would correct the problem. I stupidly did and then I realized he wanted $210 to fix my computer he said I could use a credit card or check. The check should be sent to 950 E. State hwy 114 Suite 160 Southlake TX 76092. But he said he sometimes doesn't get his mail so he would send a FedEx man to pick up my check. I hung up on him. Called my bank and stopped my accounts. I then called the Geek Squad to repair my computer. All is okay now.
