I was called by a Richard Haines with the Shelby County Sheriff's Dept. saying that I have a bench warrant out for my arrest and I need appear at 201 Popular Ave. I was given several instructions by phone to pay cash and get at Kroger for $980 on a blue and gold card and then call with the numbers on the back side. Also to drop the receipts on the mail to an address in Nashville. I was to appear at 201 Popular and sign an affidavit when I arrive I was told by phone the system was down and to come tomorrow to sign the affidavit.

Monetary Loss: $814
Caller identifies himself as deputy Jordan from sheriff's dept. They have a bench warrant for me because I did not sh I w up for grand jury duty. I never received notice for jury duty. Caller says I can clear this up by going to Smiths grocery store and getting a recharge car in the amount of $814.25 I must use cash to obtain this s card I then t are it to the sheriff's office at 400 roma Ave in Albuquerque. I must have appointment. They will t b en give me a cashiers check for the same amount. If I don't clear this up a warrant for my arrest will be issued.
Someone from the number I left called my phone I did not answer they left a voicemail saying if they didn't hear back from me that a officer of the law from my state would be headed to arrest me and all that they could do was wish me a happy life so I called the number back and a gentleman answered and did not give a name and I didn't ask her name and he said that I was under investigation for my taxes what when you said that I hung up because of my husband does all the taxes and I called my husband and he called them back and basically it was a scam I remembered seeing on the news and on other things saying that the IRS would not call you if you owed them money I don't know if anything can be done and I know it's probably a longshot but I just wanted to report it and give you the number that I received the phone call from
He calls and identifies himself as an officer with the IRS to tell me to call him back or a warrant for my arrest has been made and I will be arrested at my home if I don't call back. He speaks with accent from India or Pakistan. He has called two times today 1/14/2016.
