Monetary Loss: $0
I put "room for rent" ads on Craig list. These people were quick responded their interests. I asked for only text message. One message went to me and asked for email back her-- Lulu Tao. She made a story, like she is half Chinese and half American, just graduated, would moved to my city. and she ask for some pictures and details and my personal information: such as full name, address. I emailed her back first without and suspicious.
Later I received an other email from Gift George, no phone or text message from her. She said she made up a exact same story, only difference was she was half Germany and half American. Two email later she asked me for same personal information. I didn't response. BUT, I BELIEVE SOME OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE CHEATED OUT AND SEND TO THEM MONEY OR GIVE IMPORTANT PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS BANK ACCOUNT NO. TO THEM BY THEIR STEP BY STEP STORIES.
He sent me a stolen check from a bank in Georgia when attempting to purchase my furniture. He also attempted to persuade me to transfer money to him using the check. The bank informed me it was a scam, the check stole, and advised me not to cash. So I did not. I am lucky and want to stop him from scamming other people. Each of these people sent me the exact same email. Either they are the same person or are working together.
This lady wanted to buy my laptop. She told me to take it off craigslist because she was going to buy it. So I did. She told me that she was going to send me a certified check from her husband's bank. I took it to the bank and come to find out it was fake. Made my account in the negatives. Don't trust anyone.
