Craigslist cars
I was contacted by a Thomas who said he wanted to buy my cars (& wouldn't clarify if he was buying one or both. I had them listed together.) he said he was buying it for his step father and how he would have an agent pick it up and I wouldn't have to do anything because he was paying for everything. And then he said I would have to wire the money to the pick up agency and after recieving what I thought was legit emails from PayPal saying I was sent enough money but it was on hold until the gram details were given. I came to find out they were not but thankfully I didn't go through with it. The guy even tried calling me 3 times and left voicemails I'm sure he didn't mean to because it was just a bunch of people talking in the background.

Craigslist purchase scam
A prospective buyer for a set of wheels I am selling responded saying they were military personnel based at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts, but originally from Texas. They sent a treasurer's check through priority mail with shipping cost included. I deposited the check, but was suspicious so stalled arranging for shipment. The buyer wanted me to send payment for shipment with " Cargo Atlantic" through a money gram and arrange for pickup of the wheels. Many things seemed a bit hokey so I stalled until I had heard from my bank about the check clearing. They check was initially cleared by Chase yesterday and then was changed to "altered/ fictitious" today. The buyer tried to crate urgency this morning calling and asking when I would complete the money gram, so I felt it important to re-verify the funding before doing anything more. He spoke with an African accent adding more suspiciousness. Glad I did!!
