Almost scammed

I was trying to purchase a truck that was listed on Craigslist. The seller contacted me through email and told me they were part of the eBay buyer protection program in which eBay then emailed me. I tried to contact the number they listed for customer service and it was a google number. I then got a phone call back from a completely different number saying they were from eBay and they were returning the missed call. I called eBay themselves and was told it was a scam and that the website they contacted me from was not valid.

I have a set of motorcycle saddlebags for sale on Craigslist. the individual from the above listed number text me requesting to purchase them. "Yes...Can i send you a check for the sale and once the check clears will set-up pickup" Knowing this is a well known method of thievery, i advised said dirtball to stop preying on hard working people, do society a favor and crawl in a hole.

I replied to the add by a text message to 1-409-433-9028 and received the following text:

I'm Kristina, thank you for contacting me regarding my
2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV. For more info please give me your email address or contact me at:[email protected]
-Sent free from TextNow.com

I then responded by email to the above text and received:

Hello,
My name is Kristina, and I'm emailing you about 2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV with an gasoline engine, automatic transmission and only 79,000 k miles. Never had or need any paint/body work done, garaged keep always, without any mechanical problems, tires and wheels are in great shape as well, electric is working perfectly. The engine 3.5L V6, runs very good and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. Has a clean and clear US title in my name and there are no liens or loans on it. This car was used by my husband who died 4 month ago. The  price was reduced at $2500 because I'm in a hurry to find a buyer. I need to sell the car before the 15 of the next month, when I will be leaving on military duty with my medical team out of the country  for a year and do not want to store it. Hate to sell it but its not worth keeping insurance and paying storage fees for a year.

Regards!

I responded to the above email and received:

Hello again,
Right now I'm in a military base. We are training, getting ready for leaving the country. The delivery process will be managed by me. I think I can have it there at your home address within 2-3 working days. It will come with a clear title and reg. I am a member of the eBay buyer protection program and using this service you will get a 5 days testing period after delivery. During that 5 days testing period I will not be getting any money. I need to know if you are interested so I can ask eBay to send you the details on this deal. If interested please include in your next email your contact info for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so we can get the ball rolling.
Thank you!
