Caught in the act

I was scammed by this person lost $2500 they didn't send the item they claimed to be using a ebay account sent me emails from customer service and everything. Long story short my mother contacted her for the same motorcycle and she replied with the same emails. Shes/he is still out there trying to get some more innocent peoples money.

Ben scammed by so called eBay and Norma Wilson

Said she had a 2001 Ford explorer for sale said she deals with ebay. Ebay e-mailed me everything from eBay looked real. Told me to get 3 one vanilla prepaid cards. Said cards would not be active until I called to activate them. Well now I'm out $1400.

I was trying to purchase items off eBay and was the high bidder when I saw the seller added to the description that the first person with $200 could have the item. I sent a message and he told me he would send me the item. He gave me the tracking number and asked me to Western Union him the money. Long story short I sent it.and he sent the item somewhere else and was lying the whole time! He gave me his military ID #034012250 and drivers license #064183464 so I thought it was legit.

Here are some emails. Please let me know if I have a case or I'm just out the money?

Normally when a transaction is made outside of eBay the item is paid for upon delivery of the item to ensure everything is there and is in working condition. This also protects the buyer from having the shipment canceled once the money is sent.

This is the email that I went by and contacted about the truck. Hi, my name is Dianne Sharp

My 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4 never had or need any paint/body work done, garaged keep always, without any mechanical problems, tires and wheels are in great shape as well, electric is working perfectly. The engine is 5.7L V8, gasoline fuel, the automatic transmission shifts perfectly and the 4x4 works like new, the truck has only 82k miles. Has a clean and clear US title under my name and there are no liens or loans on it. I am selling it at this final price of $1,500 because my husband died 1 month ago (he had a heart attack) and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason why I want to sell it asap. Me along with my daughter decided to sell the house and so we moved to my sister in Omaha, NE trying to start a new life.

I was trying to buy a vehicle ftom Craigslist list the seller stated that they was using the eBay shipping for the transaction, ,so after I looked the Web site up ,I decided to complete the transaction, after speaking with EBAY ,,trying to give them the customer i.do number I have they stated to me that it was a scam and too contact my former of payment witch was money gram ,,#reference number 53210215 that was picked up in Arkansas two days after the agreement on 02/15/2016 please help

The camper is already at the eBay in Billings along with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle the shipping, the payment, and the paper exchange. Message: BEWARE!! IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE..IT PROBABLY IS!!! Found a car on Facebook Marketplace. 2009 Honda Civic low mileage only $1200. When I contacted the seller a man replied that the car was actually his sisters and to email her at, sarahwilson441@gmail.com. So, I emailed a Sarah Wilson. She claimed her only son of 26yrs had passed away in a bike accident a few months back and it was just to painful to hold on to, so she wanted to sell. So, I was instructed to send my info, name, address, & phone # and she would forward it to ebay. At this point I knew something wasn't right. Too much this and that. I buy from ebay ALL the time. I searched for the car on ebay and it wasn't there. And I know you don't get contacted from the seller. Well little did I know my cousin found a 2014 Nissan Maxima for $2,000 same scenario and my boyfriend saw the Honda aswell and had sent them his info. My cousin to. All of the vehicles were in Billings MT. And they were instructed to purchase ebay or Best Buy gift cards. 6 cards $200 each. The cars were in MT and her & her husband travel a lot for work but ebay had the cars and they will deliver to my driveway. So, thankfully we all communicated and knew. Ebay NEVER tells you, you can only purchase something with eBay or Best Buy gift cards. Why would ebay want Best Buy gift cards?? They opened a ebay account under my boyfriend's name. They had a professional looking email even instructing you to call them. (818) 921-4841 the man that answered had what sounded like a Indian accent and he assures you this is no scam and they all have college educations. They?? I asked for a supervisor and of course he was not there. So I replied to the email explaining so very nicely(lol) that the jig was up and I've notified anyone and everyone that I could. They even told my boyfriend he could pay half now and the other half the following week. I live in Indiana and my cousin is in Arkansas and she also found the car on Facebook Marketplace so they are everywhere! Make sure you read company policies and such so you can avoid getting taken advantage of. My boyfriend really believed it and was ready to send them money. They were that convincing and email looks legit to someone who hasn't purchased through eBay before. Thankfully I do a lot of online shopping lol so I knew it wasn't right. It's just disgusting and sad that people can put all that effort and work into stealing others hard earned money and we're in a epidemic! Please pay attention, if something doesn't feel right then research it. There are some videos about this same thing same people on YouTube. Ask questions, make phone calls whatever you have to. These people need to be stopped. Help spread the word, they've gotten to many people. They aren't getting my hard earned money! Be safe all, best of luck.

Apparently, the seller's husband passed away and she is now selling an adorable airstream for a "too good to be true" price. This was her last email to me.... She asked me to email her for more photos at Linda1978Anderson@gmail.com. But she replied to me from She replied to me from linda_anderson04@comcast.net. Beware of both... Her first email to me included photos of the airstream and a story about how her husband just died of a heart attack and she moved home... Ofcourse, I loved the photos... so I responded that I would buy the airstream... I started to feel like this was "too good to be true" so I did a little digging to find out if she was a scammer... Thanks to you all, I didn't have to dig too farm... It wasn't soon after that that I received this reply. "Hi again, Thank you for your reply. As I explained in my previous email I was accepted for a new job and I moved to my hometown Minneapolis, MN. I am a regular eBay user and now with this new virus situation I decided to use their services. You will have to pay eBay and they won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle for 5 days. The vehicle is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. We also benefit from free shipping, it will be delivered to your address within 3 days and you have a 5 days inspection period to test and inspect it. Please provide me your information (name, address and phone#) so I can register you as the buyer and after that eBay will send you an email with the terms and conditions, with no obligation on buying it and also they will confirm the fact that the transaction is conducted through them. It was taken down, I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. Few days later I reached back out to see if my gut feeling was wrong. So as we talked through emails, I started believing her. I was very close to send $. Up until I told my boyfriend everything, and he googled her email address and phone number. Message: I was trying to buy a John Deere Gator. The price was almost too good to be true. So, when the scammer, “Patricia Burris who is on a AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming” sent me the eBay Motors invoice I signed into to my account to check to see if I had an invoice to pay. There was no invoice, so I talked with a customer service person and had given him the invoice number, phone number provided, etc. Just as I thought, he confirmed it was a scam! I emailed twice, but shipping me the bike after payment and having the option to return it doesn't make any sense. Thankfully, my daughter told me to look up the email address online to check it being a scam! And I found all of this.
