I saw a good deal for a car on craigslist. i pursued it and the transaction was to go through eBay. I did my part just to find out that the eBay web site was a fraud. I contacted eBay and that assured me it was.

found a machine on what was advertized as e bay super add.and was told to start a purchase I had to issue a down payment of 1500.00 dollars and they would deliver for inspection the machine . At which time if agreed i would send the rest of payment(1000.00) to close the deal.Now they are asking that I send the other 1000.00 before delivery and I wont do it

Some woman claiming to be Donna Morris try to sell me a 2006 Chevy Impala under hundred thousand miles for $2,000 I asked her to see the car in person and she explained to me that eBay has the car holding in that it will be shipped to me after I made a payment which will be on hold for 5 days which I know is not true

Message: Almost scammed from Barbara Willson. Thanks for the heads up. She sent this after I inquired about a camper on fb marketplace and being directed to the aunt. This was her next email: Barbara Willson Sat, Jun 6, 12:54 PM (1 day ago) Hi again, Now I'm here in Billings, Montana, back with my parents, after the divorce. The camper is already at the eBay in Billings along with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle the shipping, the payment, and the paper exchange. The camper is ready to be delivered to your place. You will have free shipping and 5 days to test-drive and inspect the camper before I receive any money. If you are really interested in buying my camper, please reply with your full name, a delivery address and a phone #. I will forward this info to eBay and they will contact you with all the info on how to buy it. Thank You ! I was then sent info (supposedly from ebay motors) with instructions on sending ebay cards.

Message: BEWARE!! IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE..IT PROBABLY IS!!! Found a car on Facebook Marketplace. 2009 Honda Civic low mileage only $1200. When I contacted the seller a man replied that the car was actually his sisters and to email her at, sarahwilson441@gmail.com. So, I emailed a Sarah Wilson. She claimed her only son of 26yrs had passed away in a bike accident a few months back and it was just to painful to hold on to, so she wanted to sell. So, I was instructed to send my info, name, address, & phone # and she would forward it to ebay. At this point I knew something wasn't right. Too much this and that. I buy from ebay ALL the time. I searched for the car on ebay and it wasn't there. And I know you don't get contacted from the seller. Well little did I know my cousin found a 2014 Nissan Maxima for $2,000 same scenario and my boyfriend saw the Honda aswell and had sent them his info. My cousin to. All of the vehicles were in Billings MT. And they were instructed to purchase ebay or Best Buy gift cards. 6 cards $200 each. The cars were in MT and her & her husband travel a lot for work but ebay had the cars and they will deliver to my driveway. So, thankfully we all communicated and knew. Ebay NEVER tells you, you can only purchase something with eBay or Best Buy gift cards. Why would ebay want Best Buy gift cards?? They opened a ebay account under my boyfriend's name. They had a professional looking email even instructing you to call them. (818) 921-4841 the man that answered had what sounded like a Indian accent and he assures you this is no scam and they all have college educations. They?? I asked for a supervisor and of course he was not there. So I replied to the email explaining so very nicely(lol) that the jig was up and I've notified anyone and everyone that I could. They even told my boyfriend he could pay half now and the other half the following week. I live in Indiana and my cousin is in Arkansas and she also found the car on Facebook Marketplace so they are everywhere! Make sure you read company policies and such so you can avoid getting taken advantage of. My boyfriend really believed it and was ready to send them money. They were that convincing and email looks legit to someone who hasn't purchased through eBay before. Thankfully I do a lot of online shopping lol so I knew it wasn't right. It's just disgusting and sad that people can put all that effort and work into stealing others hard earned money and we're in a epidemic! Please pay attention, if something doesn't feel right then research it. There are some videos about this same thing same people on YouTube. Ask questions, make phone calls whatever you have to. These people need to be stopped. Help spread the word, they've gotten to many people. They aren't getting my hard earned money! Be safe all, best of luck.

Message: I was almost scammed by Linda Anderson, who is advertising on Facebook Marketplace under Peng Moua Photography/Videographer's page. Apparently, the seller's husband passed away and she is now selling an adorable airstream for a "too good to be true" price. This was her last email to me.... She asked me to email her for more photos at Linda1978Anderson@gmail.com. But she replied to me from She replied to me from linda_anderson04@comcast.net. Beware of both... Her first email to me included photos of the airstream and a story about how her husband just died of a heart attack and she moved home... Ofcourse, I loved the photos... so I responded that I would buy the airstream... I started to feel like this was "too good to be true" so I did a little digging to find out if she was a scammer... Thanks to you all, I didn't have to dig too farm... It wasn't soon after that that I received this reply. "Hi again, Thank you for your reply. As I explained in my previous email I was accepted for a new job and I moved to my hometown Minneapolis, MN. I am a regular eBay user and now with this new virus situation I decided to use their services. You will have to pay eBay and they won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle for 5 days. The vehicle is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. We also benefit from free shipping, it will be delivered to your address within 3 days and you have a 5 days inspection period to test and inspect it. Please provide me your information (name, address and phone#) so I can register you as the buyer and after that eBay will send you an email with the terms and conditions, with no obligation on buying it and also they will confirm the fact that the transaction is conducted through them. Waiting for your email with the requested details. Thank you." Thanks for reporting the scam... You saved me some cash... :)

Message: Received this email after responding to an ad on Craigslist: Brandy Baker <brandybaker860@gmail.com> to me Hello, My name is Brandy Baker, and I am sending you an email about 2005 Seadoo GTX 3 Seater Jetski and PWC Trailer, it is still for sale, always ready, without mechanical problems. The title is clear and has my name printed as the owner. It is a 4 stroke so there is no oil/gas mixing. It has a fresh oil change with filter and new plugs. It is a larger 3 person jetski that great for cruising down the lake, can pull skis, tubes, kneeboards etc. Starts right up. It has all the bells and whistles - Direction/water temp/mph/avg mph/rpm. It has 174 hours and has some minor bumps and bruises from use. It also has a boarding step in the back so you can get on the jetski easily. It comes with a weather cover to protect it from the elements when it is being stored. It has a clean system and deletes the US title in my name and there are no credits or loans on it. This boat was used by my husband who died 4 months ago. I don't want to store it. He hated to sell it, but it's not worth keeping the insurance and paying storage fees for a year. I’m currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Air National Guard Readiness Center (ANGRC), based at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland , I’m stationed on a military training facility. The jetski will be delivered from here, it is stored in a military compound. Message: This is very disturbing!!! Everything you just said I went through the SAME THING, same email from her & all. I seen it on FB market & immediately when I went back to check it. It was taken down, I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. Few days later I reached back out to see if my gut feeling was wrong. So as we talked through emails, I started believing her. I was very close to send $. Up until I told my boyfriend everything, and he googled her email address and phone number. First he called, a guy answered he didn’t really buy it, then he googled the information and seen many people have been scammed by this lady “Sarah Wilson”

Message: I was trying to buy a John Deere Gator. The price was almost too good to be true. So, when the scammer, “Patricia Burris who is on a AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming” sent me the eBay Motors invoice I signed into to my account to check to see if I had an invoice to pay. There was no invoice, so I talked with a customer service person and had given him the invoice number, phone number provided, etc. Just as I thought, he confirmed it was a scam! Always check with eNay before paying an eBay Motors invoice before submitting any kind of money.

Hello, My name is Maya Kennedy. My 2015 Covered Wagon is still available, the price is $1200 firm. Length (feet): 16, Type: Ramp, Carrying Capacity (lbs.): 7,000 LBS in good condition. The trailer is in very good condition inside and out, never had rust or any problems. I own a clean title, under my name, no loans or liens on it. The reason for selling is that I don't really need it, I won it after the divorce with my ex-husband. If you are interested email me back. Then i said the post never mentioned being in Montana as I am in Michigan and paying someone to haul a trailer for me would cost more than the trailer and I couldn't do the trip.... Message: 2008 can am spyder EBay for sale scam. I found this same ad on FB market. Contacted the so called owner Christine Lanford, christinelanford4@earthlink.com. Told me a story about being in the Army and deploying soon. Luckily I found this site warning about same scenario. Thankful I didn’t send money.

Message: I saw the same advertisement on FP Marketplace and contacted Christine. Same story, but something didn't sit well with me. I emailed twice, but shipping me the bike after payment and having the option to return it doesn't make any sense. Thankfully, my daughter told me to look up the email address online to check it being a scam! And I found all of this.

It has never been involved in accidents and never had engine problems. Doesn't have oil leaks or rust, runs very well. Comes with a clean title, under my name. The only reason for selling is that I really don't use it anymore and it deserves a better home, I'm a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force and I was promoted and transferred and I'm very busy with my deployment.
