Received text message on Monday 4/15/2019 from Anthony Patton explaining that I had signed up to be an eBay research agent via LinkedIn and that my first assignment with funds was on it's way.
The package was received the same day via Priority Mail from Clearist Serv Inc in San Francisco, CA printed on 4/1/2019. Tracking information shows it was sent from Canovanas, Puerto Rico on 4/12/2019.
Inside was a check issued by Guaranty Bank and Trust Company in Denver CO, Purchaser Bill Smith in the amount of $1850.12 and an instruction sheet with directions to purchase $1500 worth of Google Play gift cards, scratch off the silver areas, take pictures and email to [email protected] and keep $350 as my "payment". If I completed the assignment within 12-24 hours there would be a bonus of $150.
I received additional texts on Tuesday from the same person/number asking for the status of my first assignment. I asked when I signed up for this and was told December of last year.

Completed an application to be a mystery shopper online from fb. The company "whole foods market evaluation company" sent me a check ($2400.42) by usps with tracking number (text tracking updates looked legit). Received the check with instructions to deposit the check into my account then purchase $2000.00 worth of ebay gift cards, scratch the code on the back send pictures along with details of the cashiers customer service skills and store purchased from. Before i followed the instructions i contacted the bank (farmers & merchants bank) where the cashier's check was issued, low and behold, they asked one question and told me the cashier's check was fraudulent.

Received an email asking if I wanted to be a secret shopper. Replied yes and was sent a package with a cashiers check for $2400 and a letter stating I should deposit the check and purchase $2000 in ebay gift cards and keep the $400 as my fee. I should scratch off the silver scratch off area and send pictures. Knew this was a scam. Bank exists but tried looking up the company that is on the priority envelope "Darden Guards Inc" and cannot find a listing anywhere.
