Medicare Scams

On Jan 20, 2019 I got a call supposed from Medicare. The person told me they were verifying the new Medicare cards. They talked to me in Spanish. I asked some questions and they had my address and telephone and said they were calling because they had so much work with so many new cards, etc. and needed to confirm mine. Stupid of me I confirmed it and said my date of birth to make it worse, I had to go right away. Few minutes later I realized it had to be scam and as soon as I came back I called the number and it was not a receiving number. I immediately called the Medicare and informed them. The person only said to check any bill I receive and if any is not mine to inform them. The person said I had to inform the FTC and the National do not call register.

Received call from Mr. Wells on 2/14/2019 at 5:10 pm. Stated I would get free dental with my new Medicare card. Asked for my Medicare ID #. I questioned him and he gave me a 1-800 number that was for Medicare office. I told him I was uncomfortable giving out my number and he ended the call. I called and learned it was for SSA. I called Medicare to verify validity of call and learned it was a scam.

Recieved a phone call from Jacksonville, Fla. Individual claimed he was from Medicare and proceeded to give me my address, phone no., date of birth and zip code. Then he stated that I had arthritis and back issues and proceeded to tell me that I would now receive all pain meds at no cost to me. All he needed was my Medicare no. And foolishly I gave it to him.

A gentleman called said he wanted to verify my new Medicare card number. He wouldn’t give me his name but said he was from Medicare. He knew my name and address.

I responded to a call from someone who claimed to be from Medicare and asked if I received my temporary Medicare card which I didn’t , so he said he could get it to me in 5/7 business days versus six weeks. So I gave him my S/S Number, regretfully,as after that they put someone else on the phone who told me Medicare would give me pain braces for my back and knees. I realized then that I was scammed as I have been called at least 10 times with a call with that same offer, in which if I wanted it press 1 if I wanted to talk or press 9 if I wanted to be taken off the call list, so I pressed 9 every time except 1, so I could talk to them and tell please do not call me. I still got calls. So after the call with the solicitor I hung up and dialed their number 619-745-4828 is no longer in service. My fears are what could I do to protect myself since they now have my S/S Number. Please advise me. Thank you

I keep getting calls from this # and they hang up. This am, I called the number back to complain and it was Medicare who answered. She said that they didn't call but there is a scam. I was given the number to report it but was already on the Do-Not-Call list. 30 min later, I get another call from this number. Now I am filing a complaint.
