Friend of mine on LinkedIn was Catfished - she sent me this secret survey offer. I asked her on LinkedIn if it was legit and she said yes. When I received the check of $2,950, I reached out to her through FB Messenger and she said other people have contacted her about it and she knows nothing. BIG Scam! I took pictures of the check and letter - burning both in my fireplace.

I don’t know how they got my information. I received a check for $2950.52 from St Louis Community Credit Union. Then the following instructions:
1. Confirm receipt of package to [email protected] and deposit of check.
2..Deduct payment of $400
3. Purchase eBay gift card
4. After purchase of card open pack and peel the silver scratch off area and capture image of card front and back.
5. Go to one of the stores and document store name, address, date, time of visit. Name of cashier. Did store clerk thank you upon completion of purchase? What was overall experience with staff? Email responses to [email protected]

Received a message from a LinkedIn contact for a secret shopper sign up. Figured I check it out and then started getting emails to reply back to, I didn’t. Then I received a priority package with a check for $2950 and instructions for a secret shopper assignment. Stated to keep $400 and get a $2500 eBay gift card. Totally shady!

I was contacted via Linked-In by someone who said I was referred to them by a colleague to become a product reviewer. This scam followed exactly the format provided by others who thought this was legit. A check from First Community credit union made out to "Ron Weber" was sent to me with the instruction letter (both attached). Total scam! Stay away....

one of my former professsor's linkedin account is hacked, the scammer told me to fill out a walmart survey, I though it was my professor so I didn't think much. But later on my professor's linkedin account no longer existed, it alerted me that it was a scam.
Later on I received emails and text mesg from a man called "Henry Patton" (really man? can't think of a more creative name? this fake name is such a giveaway) and I received a "secret shopper package telling me to buy ebay gift cards. I think this scam is relatively new, so beware of your linkedin connections sending you links to fill out etc.
