OfferUp scammer

  • Monetary Loss: $1,600
I signed up to a website called Offerup to sell some items, someone contacted me and said they wanted to buy my couch for $400. They said they were giving extra money for a movers fee. I received a check for $2,000 and deposited into my account. When check cleared this person reached out to me and told me funds have been deducted from their account, take out $1,600 and deposit into Bank of America account #0039323*****. It was a Saturday and the bank was closed, when I told this person about this they had me go to western union and send out two separate money orders to a Vanessa Carter and a Lauren James in Houston Texas (I still have receipts) area code 77002. These people must be visible on camera receiving funds. This happened on Saturday, September 10th. Today my account was closed out due to a fraud check that bounced! Chase says they are mailing me out a copy of this fake check which I have not received yet. I want to bring up charges on these people and do whatever I have to do to hold them responsible for this scam cause there is no way I can pay this money back.

Lillian & Xzavier Henderson Scam

  • by: shannonclark896

  • Monetary Loss: $2,000
Lillian and Xzavier posted a 2005 Accord on offer up for 2,000 and told me she had just lost her husband and the car reminded her of him and that is why she just needs to get rid of it. She claims she is living in Oklahoma with her parents and Xzavier is the one responding on offer up to email his mom about the car. She said it would go through Ebay motors and I will receive a invoice today which I did and it will be attached. I immediately knew something was not right with the way the invoice looked and asking for 4 500$ amazon gift cards and to scan the codes to the email address provided and then would ship car. I also called the number listed and a foreign sounded guy answered and when I called him out for trying to scam me because none of his answers made sense he hung up on me. I have all the emails between Lillian and myself and I researched her name and she has done this before. Is there a way to prosecute people like this?

Offer up website scam

offer up is a website where you can sell anything you would like. my wife's grandmother wanted to sell her furniture. so we took pictures and posted it on this website. my wife introduced me to this website. usually, people who are buying anything would like to check out the product before you buy anything. well, these two people didn't care to check her furniture and just wanted to buy it. There is one more that we are waiting for to send a check. I send only cash to start thing off so we didn't have to worry about bounced checks. after no response on the cash, i emailed both of them saying a "certified check" was ok with the ok from our grandmother. parson Harlan was going to buy a table for $50 well he told me if I took the ad off the website he'd throw an extra $50 in. after going back and forth a few times he said the check was in the mail. well, he ended up sending me an email saying he was going to send an extra $50 dollars for the trouble of going to the bank. He said I am going to pay you your $150 dollars and the extra money is to go to the shipper picking up the furniture. Well, he sent a check for 1450.60. for a $50 table. meanwhile, his shipper was going to other location around the area. the check wasn't a certified check it was from a business from a rubber company in another state. the other guy who was supposed to pick up a chair and two tables were going to be charged $225 and he sent a check for 1500.00 for a $225 table again the same thing his shipper was going to come and pick it up . we had to cash the check take our payment and give the rest to the shipper. I can't figure out how to send my emails to the files below. please get back to me so I can send my emails for the evidence. it seems as if its a group of people.
