Monetary Loss: $399
A pop-up ad appeared on my computer threatening to wipe clean my hard drive unless I called a 844 number for tech support. They then take control of your device and charge $399 for four years of support.
They told my PC was hacked by foreign individuals and to not shut down my pc until they checked it all out for 3 hours. Promised that they would send me docs but received none. Also added 2 apps to my pc which since deleted!
A message appeared on the computer screen that PC was attacked by a strong virus. There was a complete lock on the PC. I did not believe it first time and made a restart. But it did not help. Urgently call technical support of Microsoft. Then she frightened me, that this is a hacker attack etc. allow them remote access to my computer for repair, credit card, $549.99 for service agreement for 5 years. It happened today, I'm trying to stop a payment now.
My computer was blocked and a phone number came on my screen to call Microsoft and they took over my computer and charged me two separate fees equaling $399.00 in which I had already purchased Comodo and they told me that Comodo put in the virus three weeks ago. I trust nobody now and I am out nearly a $1000 between the two companies, I believe Comodo to be safe the also have geek squad and PROTECHAID LLC said Comodo put my computer at risk and to demand my money back meanwhile they scammed me out of nearly $400.00
