A person, a man called on the phone and said that I will have to pay 250.00 to continue to use my computer because of outdated drivers and malware. He said it was causing problems with their server...I told him to call back today at 6:00 pm...SHOULD I PAY IT?

I have been scammed by Adam said he was from windows technical support

I was called on 1-6-16 around 7;15 p.m. by a man he said his name was Adam he said there was a problem with my computer.he told me to hit the windows key and R .He said my computer had been hacked and my license was no good and that i needed to pay 175.00 for a lifetime license. he basically took over my computer and said that it wasn't a scam that Windows was a worldwide company, and he was very adamant about what he was telling me. after i told him i was not going to pay,he starting deleting things on my computer. Also the name Kevin Smith kept coming up on the computer, the whole thing lasted about an hour and a half.

This individual was telling me my computer was compromised allowing foreign persons and others to hack my computer. He urged me to cancel my computer spyware programs and proceeded to do it himself by taking over control of my computer.
My laptop was blocked on internet explorer, I called the number provided, the guy said to pay im $180 to unblock me. I backed out of internet explorer and it worked fine again. I've seen multiple complaints about this number.
I entered powow.com in error for the site I was looking for and this page came up saying there was an error and I had to call Microsoft customer service at this particular phone number. When i did, they wanted to take over my pc to clear it out. My screen was frozen, pc was beeping. I hung up. Using Firefox. I did not give them access.
Eventually I got out of the page.
