Monetary Loss: $600.00
He accessed my computer and went in to my bank account. He used a fake accounting trick and told me I had to give him $600.00 back through a Walmart gift card. I did and know he does not even answer the phone.
My sister infected my computer when checking her email. She thought she had contacted Microsoft who told her to contact these people. First paid $1200 and month later said I needed to upgrade. Paid $1500 with promise to refund $1200 which never happened. After trying to scam me for more went to local tech who told me the programs they installed on my machine were either free programs or did nothing. After a year they still keep calling me even after I reported them to FTC.
A message was left on my phone saying that if I didn't call back I would be charged 299.99 to my account. I called the number back. The man I talked with stated he was calling from the program window's and in order for me to get the 299.99 back and my account being charged 299.99 I would have have to cancel the program in my computer. He took full control of my computer screen and this is when he locked me out of my computer. I realize that I had been scammed.
I called the number that was on my phone for customer service. (1-844-902-0603) all i wanted to do was check a charge. they told me that the charge was for porn. they told me my phone had been hacked. they told me i needed to shut down my internet immediately. i did. remember, i called them. They needed me to go to the store and buy cards for $100 and $50. (i was suspicious already.) darn! those cards didn't work! i needed to buy 3 cards for $100. (this really should have tipped me off, but i called them, right?) that got the hackers off my account. (how was i falling for this? i asked 3 thousand questions because i am really suspicious now.) i got a text message that they refund to my account was being initiated. (should have known that number was bogus, it didn't say anything about apple here it is, 347-974-3536. Here's their support # 1-855-915-2066. now i am out $350. unfortunately i fell hook line and sinker. they got another $1000.00. When those cards didn't work, they wanted another $1000.00. now i feel like a total fool, because i know it's a scam. i thought it was a scam from the beginning, but i called them. the number for customer service was listed in my phone in the settings area. it has now magically disappeared. i know it's my fault, i was a fool. it's the first time anyone has gotten past my scam filter. i thought i knew all the tricks. seems i do not. I have cancelled my debit cards, i have told the bank these are fraudulent charges, but i can't be upset if they don't cover it. I did it to myself. please try to shut this down. I heard so many people on the line with them. i thought that was suspicious too since they told me only a handful of customers have this happen. my alarms were going off all over the place and i still fell into the fire.
I received a call from a number 852-716-1498 (not in service) stating I had downloaded a virus on my Mac computer (I don't have one, but told another scammer I did which is where I think it came from). I told her I was not near my Mac and she said she would call back in 6 days. I did ask her if it was almoat 2AM there and she stated yes, confirming she was in the Mumbai time zone.
