Received a robotic phone call at 2:10PM from the phone number 352-399-0823. They left a message saying that V Tech Solutions will be charging me $399 to my account for the next year's contract for my computer Anti-Virus. I had 48 hours to call to cancel or it will be on my statement. If I wanted to notify them to call 203-408-0824. I looked up V Tech and found the Scam alert.

Xfinity upgrade scam

  • Monetary Loss: $199.00
Received phone call from Kevin Morgan at 347-593-8761 who said he was service rep with Xfinity Comcast. He said they were connecting to another satellite in two days and he needed to check to see if our television receiver was going to work. He said it would be we needed to turn off tv so he could update software. He then said the charge for the new connection was $199 but we would get a $30 discount each month for 24 months to cover the charge. He had us turn on our TV and turn up the volume to see if it was working. The TV turned on and did not reboot as has happened before with Xfinity when they reboot so we got suspicious. He said he needed a credit card to pay for what he just did and accounting would call at 11 in the morning to get final authorization of the charge. He gave his name and number and said he was our new and only Xfinity person going forward and call him for anything. We immediately cancelled our credit card. At 11 am on 9/11/20 a man named Sam called from 347-593-8761. We told him we checked with xfinity and know it is a scam, that we cancelled our card and was reporting them to FTC, Attorney General and Police. He hung up. He called back in half and hour but my RoboCaller blocked the call.

I received a call from a tech support person stating I was due a refund for tech support which I purchased for three years. The amount to be refunded was $300.00. They sent me a form to fill out and as I was typing in the refund for $300.00 my computer put in $30,000.00. When I told them what was being shown on my computer screen they went through a long process to try to have me refund them the overpayment. I called my credit union and talked to the Lost Pervention and Securiy department. They told me it was a scam. They had to lock my account with them and they felt they were able now to access my computer. They suggested I take my computer to the geek squad and have it
checked for viruses, which I will do.

I received a phone call on 9/16/2020 from phone number 740-672-3103 approximately 3:13p.m. MST. I was told from what sounded like an Oriental guy that I was having over $300.00 deducted from my account and in order to prevent this from happening I needed cancel this transaction. He said it was from services I ordered 3 years ago and it was going to be renewed. He asked me to go online so I could cancel the transaction, He specifically told me to turn on my computer., I told him I didn't know what services or company he was talking about, so I told him no to the request. I refused to go online and do this , He hung up on me.
