Also he showed me a bunch of supposedly hackers that had access to my PC...then the third time said that the could not repair my PC because my Window's 10 was not registered and that I needed to pay an additional $50.00 in addition to the $500.00 that I said I wasn't going to pay so he said he would refund my $500.00 but this company took my money any way

Scammed by Techowide a/k/a Legacy, Inc

  • Monetary Loss: $320.00
I purchased a new Garmin GPS. When attempting to update the maps in December 2017, I was directed to Techowide a/k/a Legacy, Inc. I called and spoke with Daniel Thomas, who said I needed a service contract to provide an antivirus. He had me write a check to Legacy, Inc., and scan it into the computer. He installed - or so he said - the antivirus and updated the Garmin maps,

When I couldnt access the internet today, I attempted to call the service number numerous times, but got no answer. I then emailed the company. I began to suspect I had been scammed and found the complaints already lodged against this company.

I have the check, but cannot scan it because I cannot access the internet.

I was scammed by Techowide

  • Monetary Loss: $549.95
When trying to update maps on my Garmin, an error directed me to Te chowide. After fixing my computer they sold me 6 years of McAfee for a total cost of $549.95. The McAfee icon they installed was fake and I had to have the real McAfee uninstall their stuff and then buy a real McAfee. Techowide had me write a check to Legacy, Inc., scan it into my computer where they took it and cashed it. Only when I (weeks later) went to the McAfee site did I find that I had no coverage and had been scammed by Techowide/Legacy, Inc.

  • Monetary Loss: $500
My new Dell computer was compromised because it did not have a firewall, there was an announcement and then a direction to Shankar Consulting, Inc. who put in defensive software but then I kept getting passed on to other techs, for two days, ending with Techowide, 1-855-236-8222, then a refund was promised for two charges of $249.99 plus $100 compensation offered to my band in gift cards for $6000 and I was asked to go to Target of charge $5400 in over charges. Is my computer safe or not? I did not go to Target and I could not get you on the phone.
